Find The Answers You're Looking For

A psychological assessment can help clarify and diagnose a mental health condition, offer validation and a better understanding of your experiences, and uncover the next steps in your journey toward a healthier, happier, and more satisfying life.

Types of Online Psychological Assessments

1. General Mental Health Assessment
A general mental health assessment is an informal, broad evaluation conducted by a therapist to determine emotional well-being and potential concerns.

What to expect:
Meet with your therapist by video-call and complete a specialized clinical interview to help get a solid understanding of your mental health concerns in the context of your life's journey, informing a potential preliminary diagnosis. Depending on your assessment needs, you may be asked to complete additional online self-report assessment measures. If appropriate, your therapist may facilitate a consultation with your family physician or psychiatrist who can help confirm a potential diagnosis and assist in providing recommendations for next steps in your journey toward your wellness goals.

What it includes:
Clinical Interview – Discussion of symptoms, concerns, and personal history.
Screening Questionnaires – Self-report forms for common conditions  (e.g., depression, anxiety, ADHD) may be completed in addition to or as part of the clinical interview.
Observation & Preliminary Diagnostic Impressions – The therapist evaluates mood, behavior, and cognitive patterns and provides initial diagnostic impressions that may require further follow up from a physician or psychiatrist to confirm a formal diagnosis. A brief summary report may be provided if needed.
Treatment Recommendations – The therapist provides guidance on therapy, lifestyle changes, or referrals.

Benefits of a General Mental Health Assessment:
✔ Quick & accessible (1–2 hour clinical interview)
✔ Less expensive than formal assessments
✔ Ideal for screening initial concerns, and treatment planning

When to Choose a General Mental Health Assessment:
🔹 If you suspect a mental health issue and need initial guidance
🔹 If you want a brief evaluation before consideration therapy or medication
🔹 If you need a referral to a specialist
2. Formal Psychological Assessment
A formal psychological assessment is a structured, comprehensive evaluation conducted by a registered psychologist. These assessments provide in-depth insights and are often required for medical, legal, or educational purposes.

What to Expect:

Engage in a structured, multi-step evaluation process designed to provide an in-depth understanding of your mental health. You’ll begin with an extensive clinical interview via video call, where your psychologist will explore your symptoms, history, and concerns in detail.
Depending on the nature of your assessment, you may complete standardized psychological tests, cognitive assessments, and behavior-based questionnaires, which can be done online. Additional collateral information, such as input from family members, medical professionals, or teachers (for child assessments), may be gathered to ensure a comprehensive analysis.
Once all data is collected, your psychologist will carefully analyze the results, formulate a diagnosis if applicable, and compile a detailed report. You will then have a follow-up session to discuss findings, receive recommendations, and explore next steps—whether that includes therapy, accommodations, workplace or school support, or further specialist referrals.

What it includes:
Comprehensive Clinical Interview – Extensive symptom and history evaluation
Standardized Psychological Tests – Administration of validated assessment tools measuring cognitive, behavioural, emotional, personality and other areas of functioning.
Collateral Information – Input from medical professionals, parents, or teachers
Formal Report & Diagnosis – A detailed written report with formal diagnostic findings and tailored treatment recommendations
Official Documentation – Used for seeking specialized medical treatment, workplace accommodations, disability claims, or legal cases

Benefits of a Formal Psychological Assessment:
 ✔ Highly accurate, and objective
✔ Comprehensive and thorough (7-12 hours including clinical interview, testing, scoring and report writing, and a feedback session)
✔ Formal written report can be used for medical, legal, workplace, or school accommodations
✔ Provides clear diagnosis and treatment direction with structured and personalized recommendations

When to Choose a Formal Psychological Assessment:
🔹 If you want a detailed understanding of your mental health including clarity about a potential diagnosis, strengths and weaknesses, and a specific treatment plan and recommendations customized to your unique needs and experiences.
🔹If you need a formal diagnosis for school, work, or disability accommodations
🔹 If you require an official report for medical or legal use
