What Is Play Therapy — And How Can It Help?

Children often struggle to put their thoughts and feelings into words — especially when they're anxious, overwhelmed, or navigating big transitions. That’s where Play Therapy comes in.

As a Certified Play Therapist, Alexa uses the language of play to help children express, explore, and make sense of what’s going on inside.

Through carefully guided sessions involving toys, art, stories, and imaginative play, Alexa creates a safe and structured environment where kids can:
  • 🌪️ Work through anxiety, grief, or trauma
  • 😞 Express anger, sadness, or confusion without judgment
  • 🧠 Build emotional regulation and problem-solving skills
  • 🤝 Strengthen relationships with caregivers and peers

If your child is acting out, shutting down, or struggling to cope, Play Therapy can help them feel seen, supported, and more in control. It’s especially effective for kids facing divorce, bullying, adoption, medical issues, neurodivergence, or family conflict. Alexa’s unique blend of clinical training and gentle, intuitive guidance ensures that your child receives the expert care they need — in a way that feels natural, safe, and even fun.

Ideal for teens and adults, Walk & Talk Therapy combines the benefits of physical movement with the healing power of nature. As you walk together through calm, scenic spaces, Alexa helps you:
  • 🌿 Reduce stress and mental fog
  • 💬 Open up more easily about hard emotions
  • 🧠 Improve mood and focus through movement
  • 🌀 Work through anxiety, grief, or trauma in a grounded way

If you're feeling emotionally bottled up, restless, or disconnected from your body, Walk & Talk Therapy offers a gentle way to reconnect with yourself — while still receiving expert, trauma-informed support. Alexa’s calm, attuned presence creates space for you to explore what’s weighing on you, while nature helps regulate your nervous system and shift stuck patterns.

What is Play Therapy & How does it help children?
Play therapy is a therapeutic approach specifically for children who may have difficulty expressing themselves verbally. Through play, children can process difficult emotions, reduce anxiety, and gain skills for emotional regulation. Alexa, as a Certified Play Therapist, uses play to support children in navigating challenges like grief, trauma, anxiety, bullying, behavioural issues, or family changes.
How long do therapy sessions last?
A general mental health assessment provides a professional overview of your emotional and psychological wellbeing. It’s helpful for people experiencing confusion, distress, or uncertainty about their mental health — whether you're seeking a formal diagnosis or simply want support, clarity, or direction. It can support treatment planning, self-awareness, referrals, or accommodation requests at work or school.

The assessment includes a clinical interview and a written summary that reflects your current challenges, strengths, and goals, with tailored recommendations for next steps — often a powerful starting point for healing and change.
